A Swing and a Miss
Based on the above, the folks who put together the all-tournament teams missed out on the following who were probably more deserving than some who made it.
• The biggest whiff was on Amisha Ramlall of Rosemount in Class AAAA. She’s just a freshman, she’ll get her chances. Well, I’m not buying that argument. What if she doesn’t. Her line was 60 pts-7 reb-16 ast-7 stl and even 4 blks.
• 2nd biggest whiff was Anna Westby of Rock Ridge in AAA. She’s a junior and her line was 64 pts-34 boards-2 ast-6 stls-10 blks. Again, who says she’s gonna get another chance at justice? She was better than almost everybody on the AA all-tournament team.
• 3rd big whiff was Chloe Nuss of Totino-Grace, also in AAA. Her line was 46 pts-23 boards-2 ast-4 stls and 5 blks, and all of that in just 2 games. I know that if you only play 2 and you lose 2 you’re not gonna make the all-tournament team, but that’s not fair. This is an individual award. There are team awards. This is not one of them.
• And, finally, there’s Lily Hubin of Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart, a sophomore who outplayed her senior teammates Kristi and Rachel Kottke. The scoring was Hubin 57, Rachel 45, Kristi 32. Everything else–rebounds, assists, steals and blocks–it was Hubin 34, Rachel 30 and Kristi 44.
